Rosetta Stone

Rosetta Stone has been the #1 foreign language curriculum among homeschoolers for a while -- next week they are unleashing a brand new curriculum, and you can WIN the *all new* Rosetta Stone Homeschool Version 3… FOR FREE!

This is a $219 program (and believe me it's worth every penny!) and the winner gets to pick from any of these 14 languages: Spanish (Spain or Latin America), English (American or British), Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Irish, Hebrew, or Russian.

This will also include a headset with microphone, and students will participate in lifelike conversations and actually produce language to advance through the program. Rosetta Stone still incorporates listening, reading and writing as well, in addition to speaking. Many homeschoolers requested grammar and vocabulary exercises, and with Rosetta Stone Homeschool Version 3, they're included! For parents, the new Parent Administrative Tools are integrated into the program and allow parents to easily enroll students in any of 12 predetermined lesson plans, monitor student progress, and view and print reports.

To win this most excellent program -- in the language of your choice -- copy these (blue) paragraphs and post it in (or as) your next blog post -- then to enter the contest, go to the original contest page HERE: http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/JenIG/501132/ and leave a comment with the link showing where you blogged about it. And please make sure the link works to get back to the original contest page when you post it. And good luck! The winner will be picked randomly on March 26, and will be notified thru the link they left to their blog pg. And if you have more than one blog, you can post them and enter those separately for more chances to win. Yay for free stuff!

New Carpet

Last week we got new carpeting to wow the people coming to our open house. Which would have, if anybody had come. I LOVE this carpet. It is the cheapest one out there, nothing fancy, but it is CLEAN. And free of spots. And doesn't smell like a dog!! So to keep it dog-smelly free, I put down one of the extra pieces of carpeting for her to lay on. She loves laying on things. If there is anything on the floor - pillow, blanket, dirty clothes - you can find her laying on it. She is a big lab, and she tries to curl up on something the size of a wash cloth. I thought I was being so nice to give her her own piece of carpet. She refuses to lay on it. Absolutly refuses. She would rather lay outside the frontroom, on the wooden dining room floor, than comply with me. Who knew a dog could be so rebelious.
One bad thing about our new carpet is that it is very fuzzy. My daughter's hair is always full of carpet fibers. And it is hard to comb those out of long hair. My hubby spent an hour taking apart our vacuum because the hoses were clogged with carpet fuzz. There was so much fuzz in there we could have carpeted our bedroom. But, it's worth it to be able to lay on my carpet.

I'm Stumped

Well, I found out homeschoolblogger is not down. My house will not allow me to get to it. My computer and my mom's laptop, for whatever reason, can not get to the site. Anyone have any clue why?

Blogging Withdrawl

Homeschoolblooger has been down for a few days and I am having blog withdrawl! We have been so busy last week preparing for our open house that was Sat. We did so much and spent so much money making sure the house was in tip top shape. Nobody came! Ugh! What a waste. This pretty much means we are not going to move. But at least now I have a deck to enjoy and new carpet to enjoy (when I'm not yelling at the kids and dog to get off of it). I will be glad when we officially have our house off the market so that I can drag out all of our books. ;-)
Boy, I sure spend alot of time on the computer because with homeschoolblogger out, I am bored! I can't blog nor can I read my friends blogs!! My google reader has been virtually empty.
We havn't done anything exciting in school. Same old, same old. I keep putting off making our timeline. Not that I'm dreading it, I'm just not sure how I want to do it. I would love to have it on the wall, but we don't have a place for it. Especially with our house on the market. Last year, we just had it in a notebook. And D made a special one for the Civil War that was big.
Oh well, I guess I've done enough rambling.
